Life as we knew it, even just a week ago, has fundamentally changed. Many of us are sequestered at home — with kids, with parents — trying to establish routines, make new rules and set boundaries. For now, no one knows for sure how long this is going to last.
Since new information is coming at us so fast, now is a good time to turn to some of the experts who are tracking the pandemic in real time. Here are a few primary sources that are updated frequently:
As always, we’ll have the latest economic news for you at marketplace.org, and a new pop-up podcast, too: a daily news fix from your friends here at “Make Me Smart” covering the latest coronavirus developments.
Thanks to everyone who made our LD20 Decadent Desserts, Wine, and Arts Silent Auction event a night to remember.
We heard from our next Senator from AZ: Astronaut Mark Kelly who brought his wonderful wife: Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. We were energized by hearing about the work of our Superintendent of Public Instruction: Kathy Hoffman who is the youngest statewide elected official in the US. We also heard about the importance of LD20 from MCDP’s Chair: Steven Slugocki along with special guests: Representative Aaron Liberman from LD28 and Maricopa County Recorder Adrian Fontes.
So many people to thank, but allow me to make special call outs to the following people:
- Patty Kennedy and Brendan Kennedy for your hospitality and providing such an AWESOME home!
- Sharon Lewis for getting the most decadent desserts possible and ensuring we had volunteers
- Whit Johnson for his tireless hours with our Social Media and promotions of our event
- Hazel Chandler for keeping track of our Accounting of the event
Rivko Knox for helping with check-in and always being available for any job thrown her way
- Garrick McFadden for helping with publicizing our event with your contacts
You should be very proud. We delivered 326 pounds of food to the Desert Mission Food Bank this morning, and a special thanks to those who helped collect food during the canvass last Sunday.
Then after delivering and unloading LD20's contribution we packed 280 bags, weighing 1,680 pounds for delivery to a sister organization.
Great working with such a wonderful team and we look forward to doing another project with all of you again.
Again, our deepest thanks for helping make this project a success.
Senate candidate Mark Kelly with be attending and speaking at out Decadent Desserts Wine and Arts Fundraiser!

Many thanks for the good work you all did today! We might have been a small group with our first canvassing event of the year, but we took in quite a nice haul, thanks to all of you. We made Democrats aware of our meetings and received 10 new emails for our database.
Planning for the next major elections in 2020 does not start in 2020. It actually started for most Legislative District (LD), County, State, and National Party Apparatuses in December 2018 and January 2019. At the LD level, organizational officers are either reelected or elected. Precinct Captains are asked to stay on while others are recruited...”
Great turnout for yesterday's LD 20 and LD 15 training session at Shadow Rock Church. Thanks to Maritza Miranda Saenz, Mary Keating Witzel, and Joyce McDaniel for their assistance with the presentation.
