BLM Protest Caravan
Today from 3-5pm
Show your support of Black Lives Matter during our second Protest Car Caravan starting at MetroCenter. We will be meeting outside of the MetroCenter Cholla library where we will be making signs from 3pm-3:45pm for our cars. Or, you can just attend at 4pm where we will launch as a caravan from MetroCenter Cholla Library. Our route will be a large rectangle as we leave MetroCenter to 35th Ave, heading North to Bell Rd, going East to 19th Ave, heading South to Glendale, going West to 35th Ave and heading North back to MetroCenter. There will be one stop at the 19th Ave Light Rail Parking lot near Dunlap Ave where we will re-group. We will have BLM flags for the first 50 cars so that everyone can see we are a group in support of BLM.
Please RSVP: Chris Gehlker at [email protected] or 602-370-0128. Tell your friends – you don’t have to live in LD20 to participate.
See you there!
Legislative Candidate Debate this
Monday – Aug 17th!
LD20 becomes the FIRST LD in the state to have their Clean Elections debate for the 2020 general election. Get ready and support our legislative candidates this Monday, August 17th at 6pm. This is the event where you will see why we need to get our candidates at the Capitol to represent all of us. Tell your neighbors! The debate will be conducted using Zoom but also live-streamed to YouTube. For more information & to submit a debate question, email [email protected] or call 602-364-3477/Toll-Free: 877-631-8891, or visit the website: https://www.azcleanelections.gov/arizona-elections/debate-information
Let’s make some more history!
In LD20, I am happy to say we had 46.55% of our Dems (18,786 of our 40,358) cast their votes in the Primary. We were very close to the countywide turnout of 47.91% (366,376 out of 764,774). If you compare these numbers to 2018 and 2016, we have been breaking lots of records. However, there is still more work which needs to be done. To that end, I’m happy to say that we have eight PCs who have assumed the role of LD20 Regional Team Leads to help drive more of our D’s to come out to vote. Please give congratulations to: Scott Sawottke, Chris Gehlker, Evan Short, LeeAnn Medlock Short, Linda Dooling, Rivko Knox, Cindy Malicki, and Sharon Haynes. If you’re a PC, you will likely receive a call from one of them to find out what you can do to help drive up our percentages. We’ll be sharing more about this in upcoming newsletters and LD meetings.
Let’s continue to make history in LD20 for the General Election!
Let’s make some history!
It’s time we focus on all of the great things going on in our county and LD20. Did you know that we have broken our all-time high number of elected Democrat PCs for the upcoming cycle? LD20 broke their own record for highest number of elected PCs to start the cycle at 71. This is the first time ever where we have Democrats running for all of the Board of Supervisor positions along with County-wide positions. We continue to break records in LD20 with our Primary turnout at 26.5% landing us in the middle of the pack for all of the county districts which is an improvement from prior cycles. If you know someone with a ballot, tell them to turn it in. Let’s continue to make history in LD20 for the General Election, too.
